No matter how great our faith is and no matter
how close to God we live —there will come times of testing.

During this podcast, Betty interviews her daughter Cheryl, who found herself with varied degrees of paralysis from the waist down following what should have been a simple surgery. This paralysis was diagnosed as untreatable and left her daughter unable to care for herself for many months. Listen to Cheryl describe her trial of faith as well as what this was like for Betty.

Spiritual growth comes with a price and a reward.

  • Hola Betty, quiero comentarte que desde hace 4 años, no asisto a la iglesia porque ya no tuve ganas de hacerlo y pienso que media vez yo no le haga daño a nadie, estoy bien. Que piensas tu de eso ?

  • Hi Betty, thanks for the encouragement of God's love that has come through you in so many ways, and your family. My prayers are up for your daughters full physical strength to return in accordance with her truth and God's will. I also wanted to share this with you. God has often shared this with me about life when things are tuff. The phrase he gives me is "Never use Reasoning in Times of Seasoning", since as humans we are so quick to default to an earthly/emotional mindset it helps to serve as protection from trying to rationalize God's ways, and what we may have to endure here that ultimately will serve to help others, mature us, and glorify him. We have to stay watchful of the areas where we are more vulnerable because the enemy looks for where our Emotions run the strongest so that our discernment will become cloudy, and he can better camouflage to try and weaken us. All equals growth of course, but we can protect ourselves from emotional attack recognition is power! One other gift God has emphasized with me through life has been fasting. I sometimes even feel Jesus nudging me to do so. Some people shy away from this...thinking it applies to "Old" times, but fasting is meant for now also as we are trying to gain spiritually on earth. I am also convinced that some strengths can only come through this discipline. During fasting the flesh is forced to quiet itself, and take a back seat as the spirit man is allowed to "as a figure of speech" breathe deeper with God. If we pray and feed instead on scriptures while fasting, we receive living bread that will rise up in us like active yeast leavening dough and become added strength during weaken/testing times. Fasting doesn't have to be extreme, or very lengthy. I have been blessed by periodic one, two, and three day fast. The funny thing is once you experience the difference, and added strength that comes from fasting you start to naturally desire it, however you may not always feel it on the first date. God bless, and thanks again for all you do!
